Hi everyone,
I hope you have all been having a most pleasant week so far. Here's our weekly offering to cheer you up!
It's been such a lovely little week of competitiveness!! (Competition I mean). So without further ado, here's some super results for you.
The Pro Shop Stableford was played last Saturday, sadly unqualifying as it's a bit early to get a qualifying course, but it's fun to play nonetheless!
1st place: Andy Harris
2nd place: Su Worthington
3rd place: Paula Crabtree
Congratulations to you all.
Last week saw the March Winter Open, played as a Texas Scramble. In first place came three visitors, David Lucas, Robert Lawrence and John Stubbs with an impressive gross 64. However taking second place with an awesome gross 65 were B&C's very own Les Meaton, Mike Collins and David Marval. Congratulations, great news to hear.
Last Friday, the mighty and wonderful Paula Keaney and Dorothy Bastable, two seriously good players, took on two ladies in the Daily Mail Foursomes match. Paula and Dorothy did a great job and were victorious - hooray! Well done to you both.
Yvonne and Kevin Wesbroom played the latest round of the Claret jug last Saturday and beat Fiona Welborn and Tim Westwood - very impressive as Fiona and Tim are a serious team to beat. Good job Yvonne & Kevin! On to the next round with us rooting for you.
The next club competition is the season opener on Saturday, 26 March - wishing warm and sunny weather for the end of the week!
On to Academy business...
This week saw our application to Bristol City Council to run a Get Into Golf Day on 9th July at Blaise Castle ACCEPTED!
I am so excited for this, it should be great fun and somewhere we can introduce new members to golf and to the golf club. We will be promoting this through our website paulmitchellpga.co.uk, and also through the Get Into Golf website, alongside our beginner 5 for £25 coaching programmes with Andy starting 6th April.
As always, if you know of someone who will benefit, pass on our details and let's get more people playing. Last year Andy filled all of his beginner groups and we gained members from this - how good is that?
The promotional sign for the beginner sessions is now back at the front of the gates. This will hopefully attract more people to come along, fall in love with the game and the course and bring in more new members.
Paul starts his programme of tiny tots tri golf from April. We are looking to recruit lots of little ones, aged 3-6, to join us for fun games and learning in a safe and supportive environment. Ask Paul or the academy staff for details, or
click here to get in touch.
We ran our third in a series of four inclusion sessions with Kingsweston School last Wednesday. These pupils have been amazing, and we have all been bewitched by them because they are so excited, and so happy, and so grateful to be here with us at the club. Awwwww!
We also held our third home inclusion session in a series of four on Saturday. We have one attendee, Sam, who is severely autistic and reluctant to participate. Little by little our wonderful Andy has worked to make Sam more comfortable in the group setting, and by this week he was smiling and hitting balls! We have one more session of these on Saturday, 26 March, then we take a break (whilst we coach more schools) and start our next series of four inclusion sessions on 23rd April. Dates are available from us or on the Pro Shop noticeboard, or
Our
Easter Tri Golf and egg hunt is really filling up - We have 14 children now signed up and we are getting prepared, filling bags of sweets and planning fun golf games. If you would like to bring your children or grandchildren, do let us know by
Friday, 25 March as the list will be closing on that date! Don't forget, you can also stay for a family easter lunch afterwards - call Jayne on 01275 393117 for more details
On that note, have a great week and a happy and peaceful Easter. Andy will be on annual leave for the next ten days but there's still plenty going on in the PMGA! Come and see us soon.
