Hi everyone,
It's time for a rundown of the week's happenings in the best place ever..
This week saw a lot of activity here at the golf club. Let's start with the girls! (Sorry boys).
Our Ladies Section played in the Ladies' Medal last Tuesday. The winner was Julie Knox, with Di Sayner in second place, with Sue Underwood in third place. Well done to you all.
The Midweek Medal, played last Wednesday, was won by John Oliver, pushing Pete Muddiman into second position with David Crews in third. Congratulations guys, well done!
The final of the Kinnersley Cup was also played on Wednesday. Four super competitors, Ryan Blannin and Ian Hayward, and Carey Ashworth and Tony John, fought incredibly hard to win this special trophy. The winners (4 and 2) were………patience please (ha ha)…………….Carey and Tony. Wow great job guys, especially as Ian and Ryan are a super hard challenge to beat. Many congratulations! As you can see, Tony was ever so slightly overjoyed!
The
Mixed Open last Thursday saw beautiful bright sunshine pretty much all day until later in the day (phew!). All the competitors I met were very complimentary and had a lovely day, so well done to everyone here - so nice to hear good things said about us. The winners were
Debbie Roberts and
Robert Chivers, with 40 points, well done to them.
Last Saturday saw the immensely popular
Wills Cup played. There was a full field and all geared up ready for the challenge.
Victory belonged to
Paul Moxham, with 43 points - wow! What a great result, well done Paul.
The winner of the
Ladies' Medal on Saturday was
Alison Brooks with
Anne Pope in second place
Great golf all week - what more could you ask for? (30 degrees would be good)
So it's over to the Pro shop for the next bit of info!
This week saw me approached by a neighbour of mine to coach some juniors.
Erica Tindall, PE teacher at Parson Street Primary School in Bedminster, lives opposite us in Long Ashton, and when she had the chance of organising a Health and Fitness week for the school, she turned to us for help.
As everyone knows, we are renowned for our disability and inclusion work, and we LOVE it. However sometimes it is nice to do mainstream education coaching with juniors, and we also really enjoy this aspect of our work. We are going to do two days coaching at Parson Street School on 23rd and 24th June, coaching all their little lovelies. It's going to be a busy week that week, as we have the second of our two tri golf festivals on 22nd June (the first is on 8th June) so we will be rushed off our little FootJoy's!
For our first tri golf festival, I have been set a challenge by local schools coordinator Cherry. As we are running our regular year 3-4 level two school games event on 22nd, I have agreed to run the other festival on June 8th for children who do not normally get the opportunity to attend or compete. This will mean we have a wonderful eclectic mix of inner city pupils, some special needs pupils and some children who do not have access to regular education provision. Well what a challenge this is for us here at the PMGA, but you know what, how EXCITING woo hoo!! I can't wait for the day.
So it's a busy old time for Juniors and Inclusion - our next Inclusion course starts soon too, April 23rd, and we now have 8 (yes, 8!) attendees coming to the group Inclusion sessions. I am beyond ecstatic. Before we started this Inclusion work, I was warned by another club that I would never get anywhere or get any retention as apparently "it's impossible"! Well yah boo, we're doing it! We have pupils who have attended for nearly two years, one has even joined our Get Into Golf Groups and may be looking for membership because he loves it so much. If you inject passion into what you do, you can achieve anything you like, and I am so proud of team Mitchell!
Now over to Paul for his weekly input!
The AimPoint training is now fully subscribed on
Saturday, 21 May, and we have now opened a second group session at 5.30pm for two hours.
Oli Leett is a fully qualified AimPoint instructor and will coach you on how to read greens in a quick and effective manner.
The two hour session costs
£99 and the group sizes are limited for plenty of one to one advice. For anyone looking to improve their reading of greens then this course is definitely for you.
Book now as we expect the second group to fill quickly.

Our
PING Fitting day is fast approaching, but there are still a couple of spaces available for anyone who wants to be fitted by a PING Technician with the latest 'G' range.
He will have all combinations of product available for you to try, including ladies, seniors, left handed and junior.
Please book in advance for a one to one custom fitting session.

Jimmy Mullen plays in Egypt this week on the European Challenge Tour. Good luck to Jimmy who has worked extremely hard on his swing this winter.
Fifteen year old
Ebonie Lewis has had a cracking start to the year playing in her first England national ladies tournaments. She has already achieved a third and second position and reduced her handicap to one. Definitely one to watch! She has the inner desire and work ethic that I recognise in Chris Wood.
It's been great to see Chris play into contention at The Masters, and I know he is trying to wind down for a couple of weeks before heavy tournament commitments throughout the Spring and Summer. Ryder Cup year, would be good to see him get a spot in the team?
On that note, have a great week
