Hi everyone,
So what's this week brought you? We've been ever so busy again, as usual. Let's start the story...
It's been a generally nice week of sunshine, so it's been a pleasure to see lots of comps going ahead!
The Ladies played in their Medal last Tuesday, which attracted a huge field of 56 players! Wow how awesome is that? The very worthy winner was Veronica Shorttle followed by Shamim Dinani in second place, and Karen Smith in third. How absolutely brilliant, well done to you all.
Sunday saw the College Masters Trophy played. This was a start sheet competition, and a good number turned up throughout the day to play. The eventual winner of the trophy was Rob Crews with Paul Askew in second position. Congratulations to you guys!
Our teams are doing ever so well - Last Friday our Men's first team, under the leadership of Ian James, won their first match at home against Farrington 5-0, and then under the leadership of Mike Blake, the 2nd team won their away match at Tracy Park 4-1. How awesome is that?
Looking ahead, the next competitions at the club are:
* Ladies' LGU Peugeot Qualifier - Tuesday, 26 April
* Mixed Supper Evening and Epstein cup qualifier - Sunday, 1 May
* Monthly Medal (online start sheet) - Saturday, 7 May -
Those will certainly keep us all busy!
Now let's move on to the wee shop for the academy run down!
The highlight of this week for me has involved recruiting another school to the portfolio of special and inclusive schools we coach in. Regular readers will know that a year or two ago, I said I aimed for the PMGA to coach in most of the special schools in Bristol and North Somerset - well since then, we've coached Kingsweston, Belgrave, St Christopher's, New Siblands, Westhaven, Ravenswood, Baytree, Lansdown Park, New Fosseway (Bath) and now........Woodstock school in Henbury have asked for inclusive coaching! Oh what a beautiful morning..
I am so excited, and we start doing these sessions after the summer as we are very heavily committed to many of our other projects, including Junior coaching, Get Into Golf days and beginner groups and our Tri Golf school festivals, until then.
Talking of being busy, this week saw six Belgrave School pupils come to the golf club for some inclusive tuition. These pupils are heading towards their GCSEs this year, and we are providing a little relaxation time for them. Andy and Luke had fun teaching them and we welcome them again next week.
We also ran our own homegrown Inclusion session on Saturday with five attendees - Andy runs these groups and it's always lovely to meet new faces.
Following this, last Monday the lads headed to just outside of Bath to coach at New Fosseway school. The schedule was heavy (a whole morning at the school, four sessions, four different groups of pupils with varying needs) so could they meet the challenge...? Yeah of course they could! We have another two whole mornings there in the next month, so it gives us lots of chances to make a difference, and for these children to have lots of fun!
Our lovely assistant Andy had a fun weekend, as he headed up to the University of Birmingham to attend his graduation. He's an amazing assistant and I'm very proud of him. He was a super trainee, even winning PGA South West Trainee of The Year in his second year, so he's going to be an awesome fully qualified Pro. Well done Andy, we salute you!
Here's what andy had to say about his graduation day:
'This week I attended my graduation ceremony having passed my final exams at the end of last year. It was a great chance to celebrate my achievement and hard work over the last few years, and catch up with friends who've done likewise.
I invited my grandad along to the ceremony as it was he who introduced me to the game of golf around the links at Royal Liverpool some 17 years ago. Therefore I thought he would like to see me graduate and embark on the next chapter of my golf career. Plus there was a free lunch!'Luke is also doing well with his new role as Junior Organiser, so if you have any questions about junior club competitions or league matches, do give him a shout at
lukeefraser@gmail.com. We have lots of juniors joining our already growing ranks, which is such a nice and rewarding thing for our club. Congratulations to everyone involved in this.
Now over to Paul for the latest scoop from your Head Pro!
Hi all,
As a Scotty Cameron Key Fitting account we are able to order their wonderful new putter grips and they have been a best seller over the past month or so.
The tacky but soft feel, allows you to grip the putter ever so softly, and the slightly thicker diameter helps keep the wrists firm throughout the stroke.
You may have noticed that we now have the brand new
Scotty Cameron Select putters in stock, and have a demonstration model in each and every model. The absolute Rolls Royce of putters!
We have just three putters left from last year's line up and they are now reduced from
£249 to
£199. I could imagine that the price tag may raise a few eyebrows, but as soon as you feel the balance of a Scotty I can guarantee it will make you go potty.
Don't forget our shoe trade in on FootJoy Contours, DryJoy's and EmBody shoes. If you need shoes, now is the time to buy with up to
£20 OFF when you trade in your old shoes. But don't delay, as this offer
ends this Sunday.

We now have just two places left for the Second Aimpoint group on
Saturday, 21 May at 5.30pm. This is a great opportunity to learn to read greens within 10 seconds for
£99.

The Rolls Royce of wedges have been greatly appreciated by everyone, and we have over thirty demonstration wedges in different loft and bounce options for you to try.

We have now got some fantastic Bristol & Clifton logo balls celebrating our 125th anniversary which look fantastic. We've already had significant interest in these balls, so make sure you drop in and check them out for yourself.
Finally, Motocaddy have reduced the price of their electric trolleys this year by fifty pounds. For example, an S1 electric trolley with a lithium battery is just
£399 (
£449 in 2015).
Take advantage of our
£25 OFF a lithium battery, or Motocaddy lithium battery powered electric trolley offer when you trade in your old battery, and you can walk away with a cracking trolley for just
£374, which is superb for a lithium powered trolley of this quality.

PaulFinally, congratulations got to
