So now we come to our academy bit of the news.
This week the staff have been busy planning and running junior activities.
They visited Fosseway School, for children of varying special needs out in the sticks by Bath. This was extremely well received, and Andy heads there on the 11th for their next session.
I have been busy trademarking (or attempting to) our Paul Mitchell Golf Academy logo. It was designed a good few years ago by a graphic designer, JohnBullDesign, who is now producing an awesome iPad stand called Plinth.
He has also designed for the travel accessory company Go as well as Betta packaging, so we thought here's a man who knows what he is doing.
Our logo is very precious to us - it's very distinctive and the colours were actually designed to evoke tropical beach ideas with a sand to blue sky fade. So we made the decision to trademark it. I hope this will be successful, but it's a month's wait to find out. Fingers crossed.
Paul starts the junior coaching programme next week, so for all your budding Jordan Spieths, call us to book and come along on Sunday, 8 May at 3pm for a 90 minute coaching group session with Paul for just £5 per participant per session. Great value and great quality coaching.
We have also arranged four FREE Junior Team coaching sessions, as we promised at the Caren Mitchell Trophy end of season knees up last year. These sessions with Paul are only for Junior Team players and will cover all aspects of the game - the dates are 22nd May, 11th June, 19th June and 10th July.

Paul's Hole GuideWith the prevailing wind, the twelfth can be one of the most demanding holes on the course and requires careful strategy.
The most important shot on this hole is the tee shot and as the tee is sheltered, be sure to note the wind direction as you play the eleventh hole.
Depending on the conditions, the ball will run to the right, but the big key here is to find the fairway. If you are on the fairway you should have a clear second shot. Any miss to the right semi rough will be blocked out by the trees and will force you to play a Seve style shot or high pitch over the trees. For the long hitters and hookers, out of bounds awaits to the left. This is the start of a stretch of difficult holes on the back nine and focus is key, so keep yourself hydrated and keep sugar intake to a minimum at this stage.
If you do hit into the trees and have to chip out sideways, consider where you need the ball positioned on the fairway to make the following shot an easier one. Also when chipping out, don't get too greedy and consider the loft on the club face to ensure you don't catch any over-hanging branches.
Hopefully after a good drive, longer hitters can attempt to go for the green and try to miss on the opposite side as to where the flag is positioned. For example, if the flag is on the left then try to miss to the right to leave yourself more green to work with for the chip or bunker shot. The same thing applies when strategically playing short of the green. The bunkers to the right hand side of the green usually gathers the ball and generally the bunker shot from this side is innocuous.
The back left green side bunker is to be avoided unless the flag is in an unusual position, on the back right hand side of the green. With everything running from left to right, the left hand side of the green is more difficult to chip from.
The key is not to go long and left into this green, and anything short is good.
Good luck,
PaulThanks Paul, and on that note, I hope you all have a great week and see you once again next week
