Hello everyone,
It's that time of the week again where we keep you all up to date with the latest goings on at BS8 3TH!
Ladies Stableford
This week saw the heavens open and soak the bravest ladies who went out in the Ladies' Stableford and Kitcat qualifier - the winner was Yvonne Wesbroom.
Congratulations Yvonne.
Seniors' Stableford
The Seniors' Stableford last Friday drew a crowd of 34 competitors - and another Wesbroom snatched first place from Seniors' Captain Iain Hathorn. Well done Kevin Wesbroom, King of the Seniors' Stableford this week!
The full line up of winners was: Kevin Wesbroom 1st, Iain Hathorn 2nd and Robert Gover in 3rd. Congratulations to you all.
Failand Plate
Sunday saw the big weekend Open competition, the Failand Plate, played in most glorious weather. The field of 117 players went into battle and the scoreboard finished like this:
1st - Scott Thomas (Minchinhampton)
2nd - Will Tunnacliffe (The Bristol)
3rd - Jeff Pickering (B&C)
Brilliant golf guys, many congratulations.
I would like to just take a minute to thank Matt Hawker, Carey Ashworth, Steve and Josh Cubley and all the greens team for their hard work in getting the course even more amazing than it was before.
Every day I am hearing such nice things and it's down to these wonderful people - well done to you all.

We have had a bumper week of activity this week! On we go…
Hi everyone,
It's been great coaching the really tiny golfers over the past month, and on the weekend I held the first Tri Golf Championships of the season.
As you can imagine, it was a hotly contested affair and many a scream and a shout bellowed around the golf course on Saturday morning. The contestants even had a visit from star golfer Chris Wood and Barnaby the teddy bear, who was being looked after by young Max Wadsworth for the weekend. Max, Grandson of James and Jo and son of fitness trainer Andy Wadsworth, showed some grit and determination to win the final two games and win the Championships.
Well done to Max!
If you have any four or five year olds looking to start golf, then Tri Golf is a perfect start. I will be personally running the next set of sessions in a months time. Please do get in contact if you are interested.
Brabazon Trophy
You may have heard of the Brabazon Trophy. It is the biggest amateur tournament in the UK and on Tuesday, England Golf held their Northern and Southern section qualifying competitions.
With 130 golfers at both qualifying courses, only 15% of the field made it through to the main event in July at The London Club. Last year's B&C Club Champion and my pupil, Noah Hessey, who also trains under the guidance of TPI specialist Andy, shot an impressive four under par 68 to win the Southern Qualifying at Hadley Wood in North London. Another B&C member and pupil of mine, Mitch Waite, also qualified with a one under par round of 71. Congratulations to both of them.

Ebonie Lewis has been selected to play for England U16s in a match against Spain next week.
After a great start to the season, Ebonie has raised a few eyebrows and deserves her first Cap for England. Well done Ebz.
I am fortunate to be a brand ambassador for Titleist and recently the Area Sales Representative spotted that I had a Callaway driver in my bag! I have played Titleist for ten years and I really feel they have come a long, long way as a brand. Titleist used to have the reputation for being a low handicapped golfer brand, but over the last four or five years they have branched out into making more forgiving clubs, whilst keeping exceptional feel which is expected from a Titleist club.
Definitely worth a try! Keep an eye out for a Titleist Fitting Day, coming very soon on July 8th.
In the mean-time,

PaulNow back over to me for the run down!
Last Wednesday saw Andy take the kit up to Fosseway special school near Bath for their penultimate session. He had a blast with 26 young disabled children, who all loved the coaching. Next week Paul & Andy will set off there together to coach the final group. It will be the pupils' first outside lesson so it will be a more of an authentic experience for them. We have also been sent some new Tri Golf equipment by Davies Sports especially for disability work - longer and lighter, much more suitable for our inclusion students. It has been a pleasure to take the kit on the road to Bath, and we will look forward to working further with them again next year.
Saturday saw the penultimate Inclusion session of 4 here at the club with Andy. Six little ones, all under the age of 20 and all with special needs, came along to take part. I love, love, love these sessions and it's wonderful to have a little chat with them after the sessions - what a great job we have here. The last session is next Saturday and we then take a breather for a while.
This week I went on the road delivering leaflets for our next series of Get into Golf '5 for £25 beginners' sessions' starting in June on the 4th - on a lovely evening in bright sunshine, what a great way to keep fit and promote our sessions too!
I would like to do my thank yous now - Thanks to Glenmuir this week, for sending us a little gift box to say thank you for being part of their 125th anniversary as well as our own. Glenmuir has been stocked by us since we took over in 2002 and we have never looked back - great products, great quality and seriously nice whisky (ha ha)!
I would also like to thank
Kevin Toy, Dad to one of Paul's England Golf pupils,
Emily Toy. The family lives in Cornwall by Helford, and Kevin came bearing gifts on Saturday - the best gifts ever, the genuine article….Cornish pasties! Yum…
Finally, don't forget to be sun safe this year. We all know that skin cancer is so risky these days, and I don't want any of you to be at risk. Wear a high factor sunscreen, use a lip balm with SPF on your lips, drink lots of water and avoid the midday sun. If you come to the club without any creams etc, we sell them in the pro shop, so don't put yourself at risk. We also sell insect repellent to keep those pesky horseflies at bay!
On that note, have a great week and see you all soon
Caren, Paul, Andy &
Luke
