Hi everyone,
Well what a great week it's been. So much going on at the club and academy to report on, so without further ado let's make a start...
This week has been so busy I don't know where to start.
Our Ladies played in the Stableford and Millennium Vets Cup last Tuesday, which was won by Anne Pope with Joan Rowe taking second place. Great job Ladies.
The Midweek Medal also enjoyed a great day, being won by Mike Collins, with Les Meaton in second place and John Newman in third. Great golf guys.
Captain's Charity Day
Our Captain's Charity Day, in aid of the Bristol Area Stroke Foundation, took place last Friday in bright beautiful sunshine. What an incredibly wonderful day this was - Peter & Jane Simpson and Peter & Di Scott, along with some brilliant helpers, did an AMAZING job, and all who played enjoyed such a lovely day at the club.
The morning competition was won by Paul, Graham, Carey Ashworth and Mike Collins. Wow guys well done. Paul also won nearest the pin so he won a lovely voucher as well as lots of champagne and wine.
The winners of the afternoon shotgun were an equally brilliant John Wrigley and his guests from the Bristol Irish Golf Society. What a lovely group of chaps these were, and it was a pleasure to meet them. Many congratulations to you all.
What a wonderful day in support of a very special charity
June MedalThe June Medal was held last Saturday with a big full field - again it stayed nice and dry for everyone, with the final result as follows:
Division 1
1st -
Tim Westwood, 2nd -
David Law, 3rd -
Mike Collins Division 2
1st -
Jack Davies, 2nd -
Mark Sercombe, 3rd -
Nigel Bourne
Well played everyone.
So over to us.
This week saw Luke leave us to return to his home county of Essex, and we welcome back
Nick Ramshaw to the team.
He is a 1 handicapper and last year won the junior county order of merit for the GGU. He has been studying at Hartpury College and is finishing his exams, ready to take on the Professional Golfers Association foundation degree.
Nick used to work for us and has also been working recently at Minchinhampton Golf Club on weekends. We are very glad to welcome him back as trainee assistant and he will be starting his PGA training this Autumn.
Isn't he a lucky boy to join us when we are wearing our bright yellow shirts? ....ha ha. Anyway welcome back to the PMGA Nick, we are so glad to have you. And then there were four again.
So we move on as a team and we will be reporting back next week on our first tri golf festival of the summer season - wish us luck.
Over to Paul for a GGU coaching round up.
I took my GGU Junior Squad to Walton Heath on Bank Holiday Monday to watch the US Open Qualifying and we were treated to some fantastic golf.
I have some extremely talented young players in my squad, and they thoroughly enjoyed walking the fairways with the European Tour players and caddies. Being able to stand right next to them as they work out how to play each shot was an invaluable experience for them.
It was a very cold and windy day and the Frenchman Gregory Bourdy came out on top with a great score of nine under over the 36 holes.
Woody defends his title in Austria this week, and then flies to America to compete in the US Open. We will get together for a session the following week and then Chris starts the run to Royal Troon. The French and Scottish Opens will be a great warm up for his favourite tournament of the year. He is showing some class form and I'm sure will be expecting some good results this summer.
We are also running both a
Titleist Fitting Day on Friday, 8 July, and an AimPoint course on 25th June, so to book call us on 01275 393031,

So it's been an awesome couple of weeks for us and we are so excited to run all our events in June and July. I will also be starting work on the GolfMark process again soon, with help from Chrissie and also Mark the Club Manager, so let's hope we all get it up and running soon.
I would like to thank
Joan Little for being an amazing lady. In memory of lovely Frank, she recently donated a cheque to our Inclusion work with disabled children. We are so grateful for this, Joan you have always been so supportive of our work and we are indebted to you.
Finally I would like to take you all off to sunny climes, to good times with friends and beautiful golf courses. Paul & I had a look at the pictures for these and I fell in love with the beauty of these places. Let's take a look at Biarritz and the Italian Lakes.

On that note, have a great week
