Hi everyone,
What a wonderful week it's been for golf at our fine golf course!
The Ladies started the week with some magnificent scoring in the Greensomes on July 5th. Taking first place were Su Worthington and Jane Watts, with Jane Bell and Sarah Cheetham in second place and Ali Vyas and Karen Smith in third. Many congratulations to you all!
The South West Counties Under 18s championships took place last Thursdaym, here at our Championship Course. Six counties competed for the title - the winning team was.....Wiltshire, with Dorset in second place and Gloucestershire in third. The individual winner for the day was Jake Bolton (pictured) from Wiltshire, with Taylor Stote taking second place. Well done to all who played and also to everyone who made the championships such a great event. At Bristol & Clifton we are very lucky to be able to host such brilliant events - well actually it isn't luck, it is because of the quality of our course and club, and we have a right to be extremely proud of what we have here.

At the weekend, B&C hosted another big county competition, the Failand Cup. There were 58 of the finest players coming together to compete, and the overall victor was Dave Wood (67,71) with Paul's pupil Mitchell Waite in second place (73,66). Brilliant golf guys, well done.
This week saw lots of Academy fun and games, so let's head there now!
The Callaway Fitting Day Comes to B&C on Friday 5th August between 12 & 6pm. Appointments can be booked with a Callaway Fitting Technician and Paul will be on hand to offer any extra advice and tips. It will be a great day so don't miss out by taking an advance booking.
We knew this week would be busy, as every week is, and we have had another great one here at B&C's Academy!
We had a weekend of busyness and it all centred around Junior Golf! We started with some Tiny Tots tri golf and Paul had a blast with 4 littlies. Our next Tiny Tots tri golf sessions start 17 September so for a list please pop in or drop us a line!
Next came our regular Junior Golf Coaching with Paul. Last Sunday 6 junior golfers, including one special new girl junior member, Frances, and new to the group Momo Foster, headed out for some Junior Passport Coaching. The group had a great time on the range and enjoyed all challenges they faced! Well done Paul, the sessions are really well prepared and everyone enjoys them.
This weekend also saw the three academy boys set off to Blaise Castle, for the first Get Into Golf Day. They set up the equipment opposite the play area and were soon very busy coaching and giving out leaflets encouraging beginners and juniors to attend our home sessions here at B&C.
Well done to all of you. We also had junior member Hugo Yaxley (pictured helping out) join us to help out, and I am ever so grateful to him for his hard work.
So it's been all a bit frantic once again but it's only getting busier! This Saturday 16th, Paul, Andy & Hugo set off to Portishead Lake Grounds for the day. They open for business at 9.30am and hope to see you there!
We are unfortunately struggling to make up a team for our Junior League match on 17th at Bath, as this is holiday season of course, but we are only one player short for our away match against the Kendleshire on 24th July. It would be brilliant to be able to field a full team and I would be really happy if any juniors not already selected to play could come along and take that last place. Please pop into the pro shop or email us to put your name down. The team selected for 14th so far are Harry Kennedy, Willem Cole, Fergus Cole and Finnian Smith, so we wish these boys a huge amount of luck and we will be rooting for you. Thanks also to team manager Mark Kennedy for taking time out to go along on the day with the juniors. He is a great help to our Junior Section and we are very grateful.
Next week I will be reporting back on the Kingsweston Tri Golf Festival we will be holding on Wednesday and look out for an instructional by Andy.
Just a little reminder that there are lots of horseflies on the course (and in the pro shop!) and they can give you a nasty bite. We sell Insect repellent and bite and sting relief spray so, for all your painful nibbles, come to us.
On that note enjoy a great week
Caren, Paul, Nick and Andy
