Hello everyone,
Fresh from watching Paul depart for sunnier climes, I am still here to fill you in on all the latest due to my fear of flying.
Our Ladies played in the Daily Mail Foursomes last week, and the winners of the day were Jane Bell and Vicky Reed. In second place came Yvonne Wesbroom and Lynne Vowles. Many congratulations to you all.
Last Wednesday saw the Midweek Medal played, and the winner was Derek Kilgallon with Thom Dyer in second place. Great golf guys, well done.
Friday and bright sunshine set the stage for the Seniors' Stableford. 49 competitors in the field competing to be this week's winner. So who took the trophy? Here's this week's scores.
1st place: Ian Turnbull, 2nd place: David Pearce, 3rd place: Julian Dawes
The Reverse Course competition on the weekend was certainly a fun concept and it is always funny for us to see people working out where to go and where to aim. The breakdown of scores looks like this:
1st - Chris Ross, Dave Mann and Kevin Ronayne - 56 less 6.6 - nett 49.4
2nd - Dan Keen, Ben Beesley and Andrew Creese - 60 less 9.2 - nett 50.8
3rd - John Tugman, Nigel Cheeseright and Sean Devane - 62 less 10.6 - nett 51.4
It was also an extremely sad day for us as we all lost a friend. Rest in peace Laurence.
This week we had such lovely compliments from some visitors on a Golfing Holiday Society who played in the week. Our club is apparently the best they've played - aww. Well done everyone.
As I write, we are heading into the Ryder Cup - so over to Academy News for the latest.
This week once again saw Paul take his beginner Ladies' Get Into Golf Group out for their third lesson of the series of five. This week he concentrated on putting and short game, which as we all know is a very important part of the game.
Six Ladies spent an hour on the putting green learning new techniques from Paul and they were all given a sheet of tips to take away and practice.
These beginner sessions really are an excellent introduction to the club and we are very lucky here to attract full groups.
Andy spent his second session at Woodstock school last Thursday, and he will be prepping for the last session with them here on 29th. We then tie up the loose ends and finish our school inclusion work for 2016, although our home sessions continue until the end of October. It's been another bright and beautiful year doing this and will be even more exciting with our (hopefully) new charitable status some time in 2017.
I have been making enquiries to get the sign outside the Pro Shop filled again. Since Kristian left to go to Saunton, our sign has had a few gaps. I have happily agreed to have new pictures put across the sign, so you will soon see updated and current piccies of us all. Poor Nick will also feature - he doesn't like not being on the sign so it's time to shine Mr Ramshaw.
Your Pro hits the big screen
Paul spent some time working with Chris Wood and being interviewed by an ITV journalist Matthias Kurth last Friday, looking at an article about Chris' rise to Ryder Cup.
I am so thrilled as it's a great honour (but I am very glad it's not me on the telly).
Now Paul has flown to the USA in readiness for that competition….what's it called again......?
In fact the PGA have already published an article after speaking to Paul. Click here to read the article.
Over to him for the first report of two.
The new Motocaddy S1 DHC Trolley has finally arrived at the Pro Shop. The new electric trolley offers all of the features of the award winning S1 trolley but with the addition of downhill control (DHC).
Perfect for the back nine at B&C, the trolley will maintain a constant speed when travelling up and down hills. No more trying to hold onto the trolley to stop it from freewheeling down the hill, the brake controls make it a godsend to tackle those steep hills.
Even better, there's a new electronic parking brake which is incredibly easy to use. Yes it is slightly more expensive than the standard S1, but a great aid to your game. It comes with a lithium battery and retails for £499.

My new Titleist 917 driver and fairway wood arrived this week and the technology in this driver will compete with any brand out there. Titleist have never been renowned for increasing ball speed and gaining distance, but their new addition can be custom fitted to beat any brand competitors.
I gave the Area Titleist Fitter the task of trying to out-perform my favourite Callaway Big Bertha driver and I didn't expect the Titleist driver to even match its performance. Within a 20 minute fitting session, I was gaining another seven yards as well as a touch more consistentcy in direction. As usual Titleist have designed a tremendous driver and fairway wood and I can't wait to get out and use them.
The full demo kit will be arriving this week and we will be able to provide a full custom fitting service as an Authorised Titleist Fitting Centre (booking essential). Left handers will need to wait another month, but I will be loaning the left handed heads as soon as they become available.
Click here to get in touch if you would like to be one of the first to be fitted with these brand new clubs.
If any left handers are interested in testing the new woods, please could you indicate interest by clicking here.
Andy and I had a great weekend coaching the juniors at their Sunday coaching group. We had 14 juniors join us for fun and games, and it is a pleasure to coach them. Our next session is 2nd October, we look forward to seeing you all.
By the time you read this newsletter, I'll be getting ready for hopefully a victorious weekend for Europe. Chris is ready. He is completely in the zone and focused on what he needs to do.There is due to be a short piece on the local ITV sports news this Thursday.
Chris and I were both interviewed last week and we couldn't get rid of the presenter and cameraman. They couldn't believe the way Chris was hitting the ball, but of course they hadn't seen me hit it!
Enjoy the week,
Paul
What a great experience - fingers crossed guys.

Get started
Nick is back, relaxed and ready to start PGA training, I am getting ready for Halloween (yes I do need a costume, thank you very much), Andy is coaching and training and Paul is doing what he does best. It's a good time for the PMGA.
On that note, see you next week
