Hi everyone,
Scores on the doors this week are as follows:
This week saw the course revert to its usual self and last Tuesday, 25 October, Paula Crabtree had her Lady Captain's Charity Day. A great day was had by all and the winners were Rose Hargreaves, Jo Harrison and Linda Meaton, well done Ladies.
There was no weekend stableford this week, but Sunday saw the Moncrieffe Cup played. This was an 18 hole qualifying Stableford off the whites, and the winner was a most gracious Peter Elliott with Ian Foster taking second place, congratulations to both of you.
The Seniors' Stableford last week was won by Robin Pierce-Williams with a cracking 41 points - wowee, well done Robin.
Ian Rolling also had this fab report on the Peter Dodd Cup to share with us - over to Ian:
The final for the Peter Dodd Cup was played last Wednesday. Terry Beauchamp and I beat Bruce Lang and Alan Thoy 2&1.
However I was pleased I did not know the following until we were having a drink after the match. It was Terry's 8th Seniors final and he had only lost one before. It also meant that he has now won all the Seniors and Vets competitions. That was the only one he had not won. Quite an achievement I think and possibly not matched by many.
Many congratulations to you both.

This week Andy headed off for some well-earned rest in the Highlands. Nick is getting ready to do his first aid course, amongst lots of assignment work as part of his PGA training and Paul has had a really busy week prepping for his England Golf squad. Here's Paul's report of the week:
This year I have eight seventeen year olds to look after in the England South West AASE Squad, and last Saturday and Sunday was our first get together at B&C. As the AASE course is accredited via Solihull College, the students had to enrol and complete some English and Maths tests before starting the practical, fun part of the weekend.
Chris Wood had completed a short game skills test on the short game area a couple of weeks ago and I wanted the squad to complete the same test for me to gain a feel for individual strengths and weaknesses. The test involved scoring over two rounds of six different short shots depending on how close the ball finished from the hole. I wanted to see how good the youngsters were at simple chip shots as well as bunker and flop shots, and I'm glad to say Woody came out on top, as expected. One of the players was tied with Chris after the first six holes but faded to finish four shots behind.
It just confirms that the squad need to improve there short games, and thinking back to when Chris was their age, he would spend hours practicing his chipping.
Chris is back this week practicing in preparation for the last two tournaments of the year, Nedbank in South Africa and the Race to Dubai Final at Jumeirah Estates. He decided not to play this week, like many others, due to the security threat in Turkey. There has been a number of incidents in recent weeks very near the tournament location and players had been notified of the extra security measures in force. A week at home certainly wouldn't do him any harm for a final push in the order of merit.
Paul I have been busy meeting with
Debbie Casling, my county development officer, to try to put the final touches to GolfMark. It will be lovely to gain this once again for the club as it is such an important part of demonstrating how important junior golf and beginner development is to us. It will also be a relief as this is always a challenging part of my work tying all the bits together to make it work, along with help from lovely welfare officer Chrissie. I hope this can be completed by Christmas.
Finally some of the more eagle eyed of you will have noticed our shop sign has changed and now all our fabulous staff feature on it. You can hardly miss us as the photos were taken in the summer in our lollipop lady coloured shirts. It's a real rogue's gallery now. It just feels nice to have Nick on it as he is such a fantastic addition to the team, and we are very grateful to have him alongside well established academy member Andy. We think it's our best team ever.
On that note, have a warm and cosy week,
Caren, Paul, Nick and Andy
