Good day to you all,

I hope you have all been enjoying a good week so far - here's what's been happening at the club.

Competition news

Final Competitions of 2016

Before Christmas I did not have the chance to report on the final remaining competitions of 2016, so let's cover those first.

The Christmas Flag Foursomes was held on a dreadfully wet and horrible day.

Hopefully our mulled wine and mince pies gave our victors, John Martin and Ian Foster, the Xmas power to take the victory. Well done boys.

The following weekend saw the Christmas Texas Scramble take place.

The winners were a most victorious Jason Dayus (pictured below), Andrew Bowen and Clive Pulteney, with John Oliver, Clive Oliver and Rich Bricknell (pictured below) taking second place.

Congratulations to you all.

Last weekend saw the January Stableford scheduled with a completely full field as well as a waiting list - wow you guys love a start shee. I'll let you into a secret, we do too. However the fog had other ideas and unfortunately this competition was cancelled.

Academy news

Academy Christmas Party

To finish off reporting on the Academy at Christmas, I just wanted to say thank you to Andy, Paul and Nick for helping me run our first Inclusion Christmas party here in the Pro Shop on 17th December.

It was a pleasure to host this little get together, to have some fun with our regular group and to treat them to gifts, Christmas crackers and party food.

It all went down very well, especially after our very successful and full Santa Junior Special earlier in the month, and I look forward to doing it all again later this year.

Get Into GolfGet Into Golf Day

This week I started the process of looking at venues for our Get into Golf Day this year. Over the last three years, we have been to coach beg her juniors and adults in some smashing places such as Blaise Castle, Portishead Lake, Bristol, Cabot Circus, Clifton Downs.....so where will it be for 2017?

All in good time my friends, you know me. I like to surprise so I will keep you updated later in the Spring. What never changes is that you are all so welcome to come along and bring your children or grandchildren to try out some of our activities.

There is never any charge for these and we love doing them so look out for more details in the next few months.

Shop news

Club Logo

Some of you may have already noticed, or even purchased, our new range of crested Bristol & Clifton Golf Club goodies available in the shop.

We have new ball markers, pitchmark repairers, groove cleaners, shoe bags and the most gorgeous leather scorecard holders.

We have changed our supplier to ensure the level of quailty we are offering for the cresting products for our 125th anniversary. These products are seriously good quality and built to last.

Fashion Show

Unfortunately the fashion show we had planned will need to be postponed for the Spring, due to the proximity of my due date to the actual show date. However I can promise there will be some absolutely beautiful new products in store in March.

We have already started receiving our new FootJoy shoes for 2017, and we are endeavouring to get them onto the shelves as fast as we can. We are sure you are going to love 2017 in your Pro Shop and we price match.

If we don't have what you want, check out our Click and Collect page on the Foremost Golf website to find an even bigger range of items than we could ever hold on our shop floor - more choice makes happier people.

Also, here's a sneak peak of some of the Ladies' attire coming soon.

Pros news

Practice in Preparation

Chris Wood has had a welcome break from the European Tour but has been practicing hard in preparation for his first event of the season next week in Abu Dhabi. He flys to Dubai this week for a few days practice with his caddy Mark Crane before making the hour long car trip to Abu Dhabi.

Chris has not only been working on his game but has been helping the up and coming stars of Gloucestershire during his end of season break. Last Sunday you may have spotted Chris working with Mitch Waite, Noah Hessey and Joseph Long on their short games and Chris is enjoying helping these young, full time aspiring golfers, achieve their goals. It's that time again when we all start thinking about the year ahead.

What events are we going to play in? Which competitions do we highlight as our major competitions? How can we ensure our game is in good shape for when we need it? Do we need some coaching and practice sessions? What are our goals for 2017?

Andy started his school work this week at Ravenswood and they love inviting us back. We have been coaching there for two years now - one of our regular home inclusion attendees is a pupil there, so it shows that taking our work into schools brings benefits back.

Very excited for the future and what we can all achieve together.

Coaching news

What events are we going to play in? Which competitions do we highlight as our major competitions? How can we ensure our game is in good shape for when we need it? Do we need some coaching and practice sessions? What are our goals for 2017?

If you need any help with any part of your game, whether it's technical, physical, mental or tactical, Andy and I can really help you. We can help with the movements in swing, chipping/bunker actions and putting strokes.

On course lessons are a great way for us to monitor your movements and provide improved course strategy and golf psychology. Andy, as I'm sure you are aware, is not only a fully qualified Golf Professional but a excellent golf personal trainer and many clients have reaped the benefits of working with him. We have fixed our coaching prices for 2017 at last year's prices:

Me (Paul)
30 minutes - £30
60 minutes - £60

Andy
30 minutes - £22.50
60 minutes - £45
TPI Screening - £55
Golf Fitness Training Program and Session - £50

If you purchase five golf lessons in advance then you will receive an extra lesson for FREE.

The time can be used in any way and on any part of the game. We would love to help you, so pick up the phone or click here and start the road to improvement right now.

On that note, have a great week,

Caren, Paul, Andy and Nick
