It's me this week, with Caren taking a well-earned rest. As you can imagine it's been a hectic week and I was back into the swing of things at the weekend. It's great to see so many new members and with the course going from strength to strength, we are the course to join and play within the area.

This week will potentially see the introduction of a new booking system which will make entering competitions, scores, green fees and tee bookings so much easier for both you and us in the pro shop. More news on this will no doubt follow directly from the Club Manager in due course.

This past weeks winners circle includes:

John and Barbara Wrigley who produced a superb stableford foursomes score of 40 points to win the Midweek Mixed Open. Well done to both of you for with such a fantastic score and to uphold the B&C flag in an Open event.

The College Masters was a turn up on the day medal competition on Sunday which was well supported and produced some very good scoring. 

Playing off a handicap of four, David Mann shot a round of 72 nett 68, to pip Jeff Pickering to the title on count-back. Jeff himself had posted an excellent round of 73 nett 68, but it wasn't quite good enough to win and huge congratulations go to David . Oli Nevin (third), Stephen Lines (fourth), Mike Collins (fifth) and Paul Murphy (sixth) all posted creditable nett 69's to finish just one shot off the title.

Other News

Chris Wood plays this week in China and is keen to win again. After a fruitless trip to the other side of the Atlantic he is looking to consolidate, with some good performances on more familiar territory on the European Tour. He has slipped just outside of the World Rankings top 60 which makes entry to the more illustrious events that little bit more difficult.

With his BMW Wentworth defense coming up in just under one months' time and a visit to another successful hunting ground in July, Chris will no doubt bounce up the world rankings. The Open at Royal Birkdale has so many good memories for Chris and his 2008 debut Silver Medal winning appearance as an amateur, will inspire him to a great performance. Chris is a major winner of the future and this year, possibly more than any other, he will be expecting to contend for the Claret Jug.

Promise I'll be back next week, but In the meantime I just wanted to say the biggest thank you for all the gifts, cards, love and support we have received on the birth of Monaghan. 

We are truly overwhelmed. At one point you could hardly open our office door for the mountain of presents. Each and every gift is treasured and we are so very grateful to you all for just continuing to be such wonderful friends to us.

Tri Golf for the tiny golfers starts next Saturday, 6th May at 9.30am. If you know of any budding golfers between the age of 3-6 then these sessions are just for them. I already have ten signed up for the first session but the more the merrier. I will have slightly less hair after the hour but it's great fun and the children love it.
