Hi everyone,
Hope you've been having a great week so far! Here's the latest results from the golf club:
The Fry & Steinberg Cups took place on Saturday, 13 May, the winner being a most worthy Max Robinson with a nett 69, pushing Kevin Ramshaw (Nick's Dad) into second with nett 70, Matt Windo took third place and Tom Sproull came fourth. Well done to you all.
The day before, there was a Seniors' Stableford. Taking victory in this was Ted Langston (38 points), with Mike Innes in second (37 points) and Julian Meads in third (37 points). Great golf guys, congratulations.
More recently, the Ladies section played a Ladies' Stableford last week. In Division one, the winner was lovely Julie Knox with 37 points, in second place was Ali Vyas with 36 points, third place Jo Harrison with 35 points and in fourth was new junior member Izzy Hopkins with 35 points. In Division two, the winner was the wonderful Janice Saunders with 32 points, coming second was Shamim Dinani with 31 points, third place belonged to Chrissie Savage with 30 points and fourth was Sue Wilson with 29 points.
Many congratulations Ladies and well played!

Tuesday, 13 June - Lady captain's Day.

What a lot of fun to be had over the next few weeks!
So moving on to the pro shop for the latest inside our four walls!
The season is well and truly upon us now and that means more coaching commitments and more junior work, fabulous. Our next Tri-Golf Festival is coming up quickly, on Thursday, 15tJune. We will be welcoming ten schools again to the driving range, where our festival will be set up. This event is not an inclusion one, it is the regular Junior School Level two school games event which leads on to the final at Bath Uni. We will be setting up the night before, so unfortunately the range will be shut from mid-afternoon on Wednesday, 14 June and will not reopen until we have taken the festival back down on 15th, approximately 1.30pm.
This week some wanderers returned to B&C, back where they belong. Charles Vane Percy and lovely wife Wendi have arrived back from the Canary Islands and in the week they came up to the club and Paul spent some time with them catching up. It seems such a long time ago since CVP was the club sec here at Bristol & Clifton and I miss him a lot. He was great to work with and I always had a laugh and joke with him and Wendi, not to mention how much I loved his cute as anything dog Boris, so I was really disappointed to not be at the pro shop when they came back. Promise me you'll come back and see me too guys, and don't stay away too long again.
Now let's move on to Nick's bit:
Hi guys and gals,
I am looking for a team of three to play in the Minchinhampton (new) Pro-Am with me on Friday, 8 September. It will be on the Avening course, which is convenient as it was my previous club, so I'm guaranteed to play well If you're interested please let me know.
Thanks Nick :).
Over to Paul for this week's scoop!
Chris Wood came very close to another victory in Sweden last weekend, but unfortunately was a shot short of a playoff. A few errant shots caused Chris' die hard momentum to be dented including a pulled tee shot at the last and a penalty drop. He said that he had really struggled with his swing all week, but due to a fantastic short game, he had got himself in contention. Even though his final round included five birdies, he did have four bogeys, which left Chris extremely disappointed as a win would have guaranteed a spot in next week's U.S Open. The good news on Monday was that he was 60th in the world rankings and the top 60 would gain an automatic spot in the event.
Thanks to all who attended last week's PING fitting day and I have some more good news in that I have booked two special fitting days here at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club. On Wednesday, 9 August between 9am and 2pm, Anthony Williams from Titleist will be conducting a ball fitting experience to help you find the ball to suit your game. There should be some freebies.
On Friday, 21 July (Open Championship week) we have a Titleist Club Fitting Day between 1.30pm and 5.30pm. We will have all of the latest Titleist 917 woods and irons will be available to try and Titleist fitter, Ben Hiscock will be carrying out the fittings. This will no doubt get booked up very quickly, so if you are interested and would like to book one of the appointments, just let me know asap.

Andy is away on annual leave in the rolling hills of Pembrokeshire, so he will be back the following week. The rest of us continue with life as usual in the weeny white building to the right of the big important one. I am still no closer to be coming back at the moment (you can't imagine how much I am itching to come back in and take over and boss everyone around...oops that wasn't meant to come out!) as Monaghan's colic is awful and he now has reflux, for which he takes ranitidine (not helping but you have to do something!), so fingers crossed I will be back before he starts school. In the meantime, here's a pic of him in a happy mood, he's so lucky I adore him and his big bro.
On that note,
Have a great week,
Caren, Paul, Andy and Nick.
