Hey lovely people,

This week's newsletter sees us edging nearer to the big day when the jolly fat man visits! I personally cannot wait, nor can Cam, but I will rein it in for you so as not to scare you!

It's been a somewhat depressing kind of week, with fog stopping the second Pro Shop Stableford on 15th. Pea soup doesn't even cover it! Twice now poor weather has cancelled our comps, so we wish for better weather for the next.

We had our third disabled group of the four session series, which took place on the chipping green and range. Little Kane was unhappy that he did not win, even though the result of the game they played was very close, and I would think lots of you may have heard him having a strop!! It makes a change for it not to be mine throwing a wobbly! The last disabled group here at B&C for 2014 is on 22nd November, and then we break for Christmas and until it warms up. We restart in April 2015, but will continue our work in schools until then.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jane Davidson for giving me some tickets to take Cam to the zoo. It is so kind of you Jane, we love to go when the Christmas lights are up so I am saving them for December! It is lovely to have a mince pie and hot chocolate in the café there whilst looking out over the zoo gardens. Fabulous!

I would also like to thank Tony Mann, for allowing all of Cam's class at school to go to the zoo. They are visiting on 25th November, and Cam is suitably excited as he will be with all his mates. Tony also came bearing a fabulous gift for us - six bottles of the most delicious fizzy stuff (grape juice as you all know I am a teetotaller (ha ha ha). I love Freixenet and cava and Prosecco and red wine and pink wine and…oh dear. Suffice to say there are just three left….Tony we love you!

And another gift came our way in the form of a bag of Royal Gala Apples from John Savva. John is our diet guru and he regularly drops off healthy food, as he knows the majority of us eat loads of stuff we shouldn't! Thanks John, without you who else would make sure we eat our greens? John also brought in a chocolate cherry bar, not available in the UK, for me to try….heavenly! Thanks John, you are a legend.

We are the luckiest Academy in the world - I really appreciate all that you all do for us. Thanks to you all for making this somewhere I look forward to working at.

So now on to the mysterious part of last newsletter!

I left you hanging last week by saying we had purchased something to use for our coaching, which nobody else in the UK has.

Well…..today I can reveal that it has arrived and (are you excited? Shall I do a drum roll? Can you do a silent drum roll? You may have to do your own actually!) I would like to welcome BodiTrak to the Paul Mitchell Golf Academy. This bit of kit is used in conjunction with Flightscope and our new pro shop coaching laptop, and it is a highly technical pressure mat which allows us to see what you are doing in your swing. I can't wait to see the results (they won't put me on it because I'm too fat!) and it will be a pleasure to bring even more advanced technology to our academy.

I was saddened to hear that Liz Hale's time as Ladies' Captain has now finished - she has been an awesome Ladies' Captain and she now hands over to Rose Hargreaves. Rose is currently in Dubai enjoying some better weather, but we look forward to her year of captaincy.

The Captain's dinner is almost upon us so I wish Azim and Shamim a wonderful evening. If you are available, please do go as it is always a lot of fun. Azim has picked the Tessitoura Operatic company as entertainment, which sounds wonderful.

As Matt Hawker has worked here for 25 years, there will be a Matt Hawker Anniversary Bowl competition on the 22nd as a testimonial to the years of service Matt has given B&C. The start sheet is on BRS and spaces are filling fast so don't delay! Entry is £5 per person with optional £3 two's club.

The Winter Open was very successful last week. Great job done by Steve Cocks and Su Worthington, so well done guys and thank you for all the hard work and dedication you give to this club. Evan David managed the scoreboard beautifully so he deserves a big thank you too. The winner was not a B&C member, it was Mr R Soper who stole the title, so congratulations to him.

So don't forget, we are running our Christmas mulled wine and mince pies on every Saturday before Christmas and they are both totally FREE! This starts on December 6th, so come and get a warm drink and pie to keep you toasty on the course.
