Titleist deliver Christmas joy!

For anyone looking to upgrade their clubs this Christmas Titleist are offering £50 gift vouchers when you purchase any of their TS drivers and £30 with the purchase of a TS fairway.

Academy news

Braving the elements...

The cold weather hasn't stopped us from getting out and coaching this week. Paul was able to get his ever growing beginner ladies group out on the course this week to experience what it's like to play on the course in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere - well, as relaxed as you can be playing Golf!

It was great to see a dozen new lady golfers take to the course and thank you to Ali Vyas and the team of lady members, who helped chivy the beginner ladies around the front nine. They had an absolute ball of a time and I felt so proud of the ladies who all played some fantastic shots. I am back mid-January with the beginner group sessions on Friday mornings, so if you know of any budding lady beginners, send them my way!

Nick's Junior Coaching sessions are coming to an end this week. The last session is on Sunday, so still time to sign up your little one for their last coaching session of 2019. Dates are almost finalised for next year and with John Tugman taking over the reigns of Junior Organiser - 2020 it's going to be the best ever year for the juniors!

Andy has been teaching children form Nailsea's Ravenswood school. They're a brilliant bunch who love coming to the golf club as it's not something they get to do very often. There is also some terrific talent in the group and there may even be one or two who could take up the game in a few years time.

Our inclusion sessions keep going on Sunday mornings and here's a few highlights from last week's round.

Paul and Dayrell will be taking on Andy and our Head Greenkeeper Matt Hawker in a foursomes match on Tuesday afternoon, teeing off around 12pm so make sure you're down there early to get a front row seat - we're expecting big galleries.

How times have changed

We've got a little task for you. Next time you're down the club on a busy day, have a look around and count how many golfers are using an electric trolley compared to those that aren't. We think the number might surprise you...

Waterproofs. Mittens. Woolly hat.

Golf at this time of the year requires the lot, which can make carrying your golf bag an absolute nightmare!

However, utilising an electric trolley - like 66% of club golfers - allows you to pack your bag with everything you need and more without it weighing you down for 18 holes.

Prepare for winter

Believe it or not, winter golf can be just as enjoyable as golf in the heat of summer – as long as you’re well prepared! So, here are our top tips to help you survive out on the course this winter.

Get your waterproof kit out

Don’t get caught out by a shower or the early morning dew. Ensure you are wearing waterproof clothing – including your shoes – with a wet weather bag to keep you and your equipment dry.

Club up

Don’t be afraid to be a little more aggressive and go a club up. The ball won’t travel as far through the denser air and there is less rollout so playing one club up may prove to be the difference.

Play a distance ball

It’s no secret that the course plays longer in winter, which makes distance key. A two-piece ball is the ideal way to get that extra speed and longer distance from the tee when you need it most.
