A very special day.. Purple Day falls on 26th March this year, and the Paul Mitchell Golf Academy is supporting this special occasion with a Purple Cake Week in aid of The Daisy Garland!
Purple Day is actually Worldwide Epilepsy Awareness Day, founded in 2008 by a Canadian girl Cassidy Megan who had struggles with her own epilepsy. The aim was to spread awareness of the condition and to reduce the stigma of epilepsy.
As you all know, we are parents of an epileptic child, and we would like to help The Daisy Garland raise funds for Purple Day this year. Most of you know we have supported The Daisy Garland for many years, as they have supported us with Cam and supplied us with a night time SATS monitor and heaps of support. We are ever so grateful for the amazing work Sara and the team do for families like ours, and we would be so grateful if you would come to our pro shop cake sale “purple week” from 23rd to 29th March. I may even make some of them myself (but please don’t let that put you off haha). I will be there selling the cakes and looking forward to seeing you all. If you’d like to help or are a baking enthusiast, do make yourself known! It would be brilliant if everyone bought just one cake (or loads!) and supported this amazing cause, helping raise funds for night time monitors to keep epileptic children safe whilst they sleep. The funds also pay for ketogenic dieticians, to help children with refractory epilepsy reduce the number and severity of their seizure activity. What a great cause. In the meantime, do you know how to treat a child, or adult, who is having a seizure? If you have time please read the first aid procedure (see below) for treating someone having a seizure as we’d like to promote awareness of helping if you should witness a seizure. Trust me, it’s the worst thing to watch.
