The G410 iron in particular is a very forgiving club with a compact head shape and the G710 follows the same trend with slightly more offset compared to the G410. The black finish also repels water which means spin isn't reduced as much compared to normal clubs in wet conditions. This helps to keep the launch and spin high which is important for those with slower swings. The head of the G710 is extremely forgiving. Off centre hits won't be punished as badly as other clubs and the spring like faces will help you increase distance over your old set whilst also being able to hold the greens with the help of the increased spin. This is achieved not only through the head design but also the shaft. PING offer a 43 gram graphite Distanza shaft to help you swing faster which in turn will increase spin and distance. Compare this to the shaft you're currently using and if it's steel it could be 60-80 grams lighter or 20-30 grams if you're using graphite. It doesn't take a genius to work out a lighter shaft should have you swinging it faster and combine this with the forgiveness of the head you can see why this is one of the most forgiving clubs on the market. When testing the G710 it really did fly high and didn't need a centred hit to perform well every time which is great if you're having an off day with your ball striking. PING have also dampened the sound at impact using epoxy behind the face to give it a softer feel which is really noticeable when you middle one. In summary PING have produced one of the most forgiving clubs I've ever hit and it's not hard to see why with all the features they've crammed into what is a relatively slim looking head considering it's a game improvement club. Slower swing speeds will definitely benefit from the technology G710 brings and if you're someone who struggles with longer irons or has found your 5, 6 and 7 iron all fly around the same distance, then these irons could well be worth a look. As always pop in the shop if you want to have a look or know more about the G710. We have a demo to try and there will be more options at our demo day later this year if we haven't quite got your spec. |
