This week you might have seen Paul and I back out on the range teaching as the rules around the lockdown continue to ease and allow one to one outdoor sessions. It's been great to get back to what we enjoy doing despite being under slightly different circumstances. The guidelines set out by England Golf permit us to coach one-to-one sessions whilst maintaning a safe two meter distance. We've been using our own clubs to help demonstrate as well as keeping some hand gel close by to ensure everyone feels comfortable whilst learning. Coaching this way means both player and coach may have to change their approach to learning and teaching respectively. There is certainly a lot more emphasis on verbal communication and a players listening skills will be put to the test to. I think if more people were to teach golf this way you could end up with so many different looking swings as the style of the golf swing becomes much more down to the individual, which in turn can lead to greater ownership of your swing and technique in the long term. If you're keen to have a lesson then please bear in mind that the short game area and practice area behind the 1st green are filling up fast for general use and will need to be booked weeks in advance under the current system. Lessons on the driving range aren't restricted in this way as we have a designated bay at the end of the range. We're also able to begin club fitting again. So if you're after a new driver or set of irons pop your head around the pro shop hatch and we'll see what we can put together for you. Again we'll be making sure everything we use is cleaned and disinfected before, during and after use so please don't have any hesitation in making a booking if you're keen to try out some new clubs. A lot of you have already seen and placed your orders for our 4 for 3 on dozen packs of Titleist golf balls. The offer is for a limited time and orders must be placed through the shop website (www.bristolandcliftonproshop.co.uk). A great deal to take advantage of on lots of quality brand golf balls. Before I go I'd just like to ask if anyone can help me out with something I've been looking into during my time in lockdown. If you or if you know of any members or friends that have a background in journalism, radio, TV, interviewing or anything related and would be willing to impart some knowledge my way it would be much appreciated. The weather looks set fair again so have a great golfing week.
