We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you….oh you all know the words so you don't need me harping on!
Welcome to the last Paul Mitchell Golf Academy newsletter of 2014! We take a break over the Christmas period and will be coming right back after the first week in January so I hope this last newsletter is informative and enough to get you through the next three weeks without me wittering on! I will be in Edinburgh from Boxing Day evening until the 31st, but back and ready for the New Year's Day cocktail party on 1st January. I am really excited to see the new Captains Drive In.
December Stableford
The December Stableford was held on a most chilly morning, but this didn't put anyone off and they all went for it. The overall winner was James Benson with 42 points. In division one the winner was Ian Hayward with 36 points, followed by Andy Hawkins with 36 points and in third place Mark Walker with 36 points. Division two was won by James Benson, followed by Tony Mann with 38 points and Ian Roberts in third place with 36 points. Woo Hoo boys good on you all!
Christmas Fayre Fourball
The Christmas Fayre Fourball was held on 13th, and was a messy mess up (whoops!) but all good fun and the winners were Richard Bromilow and Sean Devane with 43 points. In second place came Paul Moxham and Mike Blake on 42 points, and taking third place Fiona Welborn (well done Fiona!) and Richard Moore with 41 points. What a beautiful day it was and we had some great performances so well done to you all.
I really think we have held some great comps this year and the amount of competitors we have playing in club events is fantastic, but we can do even better! I am really excited about 2015 so let's start the year off with a bang!
I had the pleasure of joining the Ladies Christmas Lunch last week, thanks to our new Ladies Captain Rose. The company was lovely, the food very enjoyable and it was truly great to join the Ladies for a chinwag. Everyone looked wonderful, the table were beautifully dressed and the gifts, handmade by Rose, most delicious. I was a little concerned about the Santa, seemed a little bit tiny for the jolly old bloke himself! Thanks Emma for all your hard work, you are as awesome as ever.
Paul also enjoyed his Christmas dinner, courtesy of Mike Biggs and the seniors' Christmas lunch the day after. Again he very much enjoyed seeing everyone and eating delicious food cooked by Alicia and Jonathan.
Thanks to both Rose and Mike for having us!
This week Kris has been at the Belfry on residential for the PGA so he hasn't been around. Andy played rugby for the Old Bristolians against Stothert & Pitt on the weekend. He plays wing and their team won 29-0. Well done little 'un, you may have the worst rugby boots I have ever seen (yellow and pink) but I am proud of you buddy. Luke has been here working with me at the academy, so we have all had a productive week.
Silly Snowman Competition
Our silly snowman competition caused much confusion, and our winner who guessed the most correct answers was Jeff Hance. Well done Jeff, one dozen Pro V1s are awaiting your collection.
The answers were:
Snowman one: Karen Price
Snowman two: Matt Hawker
Snowman three: Ray Pointer
Snowman four: Danny Savage
Snowman five: Andy McGreevy
Snowman six: Kristian Mowatt
Snowman seven: John Pajak
Snowman eight: Joan Little
Thanks to all our silly snowmen for being such good sports and thanks to everyone who tried to get all the names - they were tricky this year!
Thank yous
So this week I have a couple of big thank yous to make. I am honestly very touched when people do nice things for us, and this week was no different.
John Pajak and Chrissie Savage have been brilliant on the Junior committee - thanks both for your hard work and commitment. It's great that we can have such a supportive committee.
Tony Mann, always looking out for me, has invited us to the Zoo Enchanted Christmas evening on December 17th. Cam will love this, so thanks Tony, see you there.
John Savva came bearing gifts for Cam, some lovely Lindt chocolates. I love Lindt so had to be restrained, but it is now all eaten by the little man himself. Yumster I think the word is! Thanks John
Paul Seddon donated his winnings from the Supervets to our disabled golf fund - made me a bit weepy I can tell you. How amazing, thanks Mr Seddon, we loves ya!
Lastly I had an email from Mike Biggs last week, and from the funding he has been collecting over the year, he is going to buy us our generator so that we can spend the funding money we receive on coaching more disabled children. Boo hoo hoo I am so happy and so grateful! Thanks Mike, you are indeed one very amazing guy.
I also heard from my county development officer that we did secure the extra £400 funding for disabled school coaching, so I will be approaching Baytree School for profound disabilities in Weston and also Ravenswood special school in Nailsea, to go there to provide some taster sessions. Debbie Casling you are fabulous!
What a week of emotional extreme happiness! I am quite overcome with it all! You guys are the absolute best here at B&C.
Mulled wine and treats!
We have been having a blast serving you all mulled wine and mince pies/yule log/brandy fruit cake over the last two weeks. We even enjoyed a buggy delivery service last week (mind you, the wind was whistling round my woolly clad legs and freezing Kris' …baubles!) so we may wrap up a bit better for the final instalment of winter warmers next Saturday!
For the final Saturday before xmas, we will be redoing the warm mince pies and mulled wine as they were most popular so keep an eye out for us (you can hardly miss us in those costumes).
We start 2015 by offering all you lovelies our ever popular teaching deals. Luke and Andy will be doing the previously known as £99 deal, but it isn't a £99 deal this time. Am I making sense here?! Both Andy and Luke will be offering one month's unlimited coaching for just £59, two month's coaching for £99 or three months for £139. The deals will all have to be used by the end of April 2015, but what a great bargain. The sooner you sign up, starting beginning of January, the more time you get to use your deal!
Click here to get in touch if you are interested, or would like more information.
Please book through the Pro Shop, or pop in to speak to Andy or Luke for more information.
Boxing Day SALE
We will also be commencing our Boxing Day Sale on the 26th. Incidentally we will be open from 8am until 3pm on Boxing Day so you have plenty of time to start your sale shopping. Andy will then be in the shop on 27th as I will be crossing the border into bonny Scotland (snow or rubbish weather permitting!), and normal service from all three staff will resume from 28th.
All that remains is for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2015. If you are travelling, be safe. If you are staying at home, have fun and lots of it.
See you all at the New Year's Day Cocktail Party
Bye for now
Caren, Paul, Luke, Andy & Kris
