It’s a huge welcome back to Bristol and Clifton.
We’ve certainly missed you all, and I was thrilled to arrive at the club after the school run to find a busy car park full of our favourite people! It’s been an extremely busy time for Paul and myself, whilst the lads were on furlough. I was tasked with health and safety, as well as risk assessments and staff training. Paul had by far the worst job, removing every single thing you see in the pro shop and cleaning every single item, every slatwall, every gondola, every window, the whole workshop and stockroom, the office, the list goes on!
I don’t think he had a single day off over lockdown and I began to suspect he was canoodling with a buxom broad, but instead he had a date with a duster and I have to say he done good! It was awful not having anyone around but the time was used wisely and we greet you in a much more hygienic state! We unfortunately had a member of our staff leave, and Alister is looking to continue his PGA foundation training at Weston-super-Mare. It was nice to see him today and we wish him every success in completing his studies, and we will be keeping eye on his golfing endeavours in the future. |
So we return to a team of four, and Andy commences his Inclusion sessions at the club this weekend.
For Andy this has proved to be somewhat challenging as the numbers have to be kept low to create a bubble, so the group will be smaller from necessity, and booking has had to become essential for the time being.
We are also going to be unable to have our annual Christmas knees up with the funniest group of lads and lasses but we are going to treat them all to presents, because they’re lush and we can.

I’d like to take an opportunity to say a massive thank you to Andy, for always sharing my vision and aspirations for these awesome young people. The kids adore him and deservedly so because he’s a great coach and a very empathetic guy.
Well done Andy! |
The Professional’s Christmas Draw is up and running, and as usual there will be prizes. As Neil mentioned in his recent newsletter, there will be a type of zoom New Year’s Day cocktail party, and we will be part of this.
Paul will be doing a draw as usual and the rude joke will be told but you’ll also see all of our team on the day. The price of one ticket for the draw will be just £1 (no, inflation hasn’t affected it) and you can get 6 tickets for £5 to get a better chance of winning the big one.
This year there’s no fluorescent sign up sheet, it’s names on raffle tickets in the tombola, and we’ll be drawing them live on your screen! We take cash or cards, or you could even BACS us and we’ll put your (hopefully winning) tickets in the draw.
What could be simpler? Next week we’ll be putting on our mulled wine and mince pies on Friday so make sure you come to the shop to get your cup of the warm stuff. On that note, have a great week! Caren, Paul, Andy and Scott |
Alfred Dunhill and Pedersen's Hat-Trick For most people, 2020 has been a tough year. For Emily Kristine Pedersen, it’s been one of golfing glory. The Dane stormed to her third Ladies European Tour victory in a row at the Spanish Open, winning the season-long Race to Costa del Sol as a result. Thrilling stuff! The men’s European Tour headed out to South Africa for the Alfred Dunhill Championship, with home favourite Christiaan Bezuidenhout rallying on Sunday’s back-nine to claim the title. Bezuidenhout’s journey, overcoming the adversity caused by a childhood accident, is an incredible one and this is certainly a heart-warming victory. If these heroics have inspired you to improve your game, send us a message and we can discuss how we'll be able to help. |
