Hi everyone I hope you are all safe and well. I’m here this week to bring you some good news. We have recruited a new trainee! More on this later in the newsletter! We are making lots of lovely changes whilst the pro shop is shut. It is undergoing a freshen up and we are also investing further in our staff and their knowledge and wellbeing. To this end, we have now completed a few training days, one on PING products using a training program provided by the company, and we also held a health and safety day of our own here in the Pro Shop this week while Callaway, TaylorMade and COBRA training starts online in February.
Enjoy this week's read and take care from us all! Caren, Paul, Andy, Scotty and Scott |
Still very busy getting prepared!
Although we are currently closed, we still need to ensure the safety of our staff and customers when we open our doors again. With help from a training company called F1, I prepared a morning of activities covering fire safety, PPE, manual handling and many of the core tasks which need to be covered. I hope I didn’t bore them too much! With all the lads in attendance, we had a fun informative morning.
Thanks to you guys for learning with me and ensuring we are the best (and safest) pro shop! |
Although we annually train fully, the boys have also been kept busy with me organising online training for them and they have recently completed some CPD recognised courses, accredited fire training and lone working training this week.
You will also notice a greater degree of PPE being worn by our pro shop staff when carrying out range ball pickups. We need to care of the lads! Now on to our exciting news and our new assistant! |
Welcome to the team Scott Davey!
Scott Davey joins our team of Head Pro Paul, me (newsletter writer), Head assistant Andy and PGA trainee Scotty Bridgeman on March 1st - I hope we open in time!
Scott is half Kenyan and has the biggest friendliest smile so I’m sure he’ll put a smile on everyone’s face. Scott is actually not a trainee in the usual sense of a PGA trainee. He has completed a diploma in South Africa, and is actually completing his PGA of South Africa membership with us, with a view to gaining GB&I PGA membership here. He has finished the majority of work needed for his application but needs to play in west region events and gain sufficient teaching experience under observation.
As soon as our doors open again, there’ll be four teaching professionals for your delectation!
In the meantime Scott has written a little bio to introduce himself to you.

"Hi my name is Scott Davey, I am absolutely delighted to become a part of the team."
"I started as a junior at Kendleshire golf club where I won the junior club championship. At the age of 18 I moved overseas to further develop my playing skills. I started in Kenya where I won several club events as well as winning the title of Golfer of the Year in 2014 which was an absolute honor for me."
"I then went on to South Africa for 4 years where I studied my PGA diploma. During this time I took part in several golf clinics and also managed to get my handicap down from 6 to +1. I also competed in several world amateur events, recording 3 top 10 finishes."
"I have a passion for helping others develop their game and I'm looking forward to meeting you all as soon as the club reopens!" |
We are getting a facelift...
Not personally, although I’m looking a little tired these days haha!
Our website is getting a whole new look with new photos, footage, products etc. I cannot wait to show it to you! All in good time though.
So it’s certainly been a busy time for us again, even with lockdown stopping us from seeing all of you (boooo). We absolutely love to hear from you so keep emailing, and we are still here for click and collect and we’re really hoping to see you all soon. |
