Hello Golfers,

So the great news is we’ll be seeing you soon, wahay! Thrilled that we finally have a date.

Our pro shop will still be open as it is now, for click and collect only, from March 29th. We are not closed per se, you can still get everything you want but it’s just a case of booking it in advance from us and us either delivering or you collecting. So we won’t be shut at all really! All our staff will be available to coach from March 29th, which is great news and we are excited to get back out there improving your game. Even more exciting is our new online lesson booking system, coming into effect on opening day. You will still be able to book your lesson via us and the pro shop, or you can choose your lesson date and time when you’re sitting at home with your diary and a cracking glass of Merlot! More details to come.

From 12th April, our doors open fully and normally. This will mean you are able to come into the pro shop to purchase goods and services. By then we will have lots of new stock and the latest equipment. Can’t wait to see you all.

Some years ago we used to sell ice creams in the pro shop as part of our confectionery offering. Well you spoke and we listened, and we will have ice creams for sale in the pro shop from opening on 12th April! I would suspect that these will go quickly on summer days, big events, county days etc, but be assured we will restock quickly so that you can enjoy a Magnum or two! We will have a selection of the most popular brand ice creams, small tubs, as well as ice lollies and our usual chocolate, protein bars, cold drinks and chewies.

Tip to improve putting stroke

Everyone at some point during the season may find themselves with a cold putter. A key cause of inconsistent putting is the tendency to push/pull putts (sometimes without even knowing that's what's happening) and especially in a day and age where there's a lot of focus on green reading and speed control; which is equally important.

However, it is easy to neglect the other fundamentals such as your stroke, especially for the casual weekend golfer. This can be extremely frustrating for the player especially if they feel they are achieving the other aspects of putting such as centreness of strike and reading greens.

A very basic drill that can help you get a much better, consistent stroke is the gate drill. This will help get the stroke on an in-to-square-in path. This will help you greatly and iron out the creases in your stroke without overcomplicating things for yourself.

You may also want to apply the left hand low grip, so you can lead more with the left arm and minimize wrist/hand involvement. You'll find that doing these drills will give you better overall control of where the ball ends up and provide you with the results you desire and boost your confidence on greens.

Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who has brought in cards and presents for Cameron’s 18th birthday (Tuesday 2nd). I can honestly say I am baffled where the time has gone, and remember bringing in a tiny little chap in a blanket to meet everyone all those years ago. Cameron loves fiercely but is loved fiercely in return, and I am the most lucky mummy in the world to have him (and little Monaghan). Here’s a few pics of his birthday, and my gratitude to everyone at Bristol & Clifton for taking him under your wing. You guys are simply the best.
