Hi everyone,
So what a brilliant shiny happy week it's been! The weather really did its stuff and got us all feeling like it's going to be a good summer! Coupled with The Masters last weekend, with Mr Speith leading the whole way through, we've had a great gofling week.
We held the ever popular April Medal and Lombard qualifier. The results were as follows:
Division 1
1st - David Resnekov - 81 gross, nett 69 on countback
2nd - David Pope - 74 gross, nett 69 on countback
3rd - Greg Gough - 73 (lowest gross) nett 69 on countback
Division 2
1st - Ed Allsopp - 92 gross nett 67
2nd - Michael Matthews - 90 gross nett 68
3rd - Peter Taylor - 92 gross nett 69
Congratulations to Ed Allsopp who had the best nett score and gets to compete with Paul against other pros & winners of their Lombard qualifying event at Burnham and Berrow for a place in the Grand Final later in the year.
The Ladies had a good week, with Annette Murfin (34 points) winning the Stableford on 7th April. In second place came Liz Hale (34 points OCB) and in third place was Sue Dawes (33 points). Congratulations Ladies!
There are also new Mixed Foursome Supper Evenings dates up, so please sign up to enjoy a round of golf and supper afterwards.
We have been busy bunnies again this week. Andy sat his first round of final PGA exams last Monday and will complete the course when he takes his final exams on the 20th. He should qualify fully later this year.
Luke has completed an extremely popular Easter Junior Summer Camp this week, with five little lads benefitting from some great coaching lessons. It has been a joy to watch the pupils learn and have great fun, so I thank all the attendees for coming and enjoying the glorious week with us, and I also congratulate Luke on a great job well done. Here's his report of the week:
"This week I ran my first ever school holiday camp for juniors, the aim was to try and encourage some of the kids who have taken part in Junior Golf Passport to become members and start playing on the course. I had five boys, Oliver and Tom Dayus, Angus Bell, Sam Larthe de Langladure and Sam Rowland who took part in a structured program which I created based on the more advanced exercises from the Passport scheme.
At the end of the week we had a 'tournament' day on the Academy course which was won by Angus Bell. We all had a really enjoyable week and I am looking to do more camps in the school holidays, which I will be advertising soon".
Luke
Thanks Luke. Now on to Kris and Paul who went off to do some inclusion training work in Weston-Super-Mare last week, so that just leaves me to fill you all in. What have I been doing?
Well if I am honest this week has been a catch up and end of year for accountancy (booooooo) and payroll year end (hissssssssss) and I am starting to come out the other side (gin has helped). I am not a natural born office worker, I am waaaaay too restless to do the accounts but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to keep Mr Taxman happy! I have just received the information on employee pension schemes and this has started me panicking! If anyone can help me with this or has any advice, please come and see me. I can just about pay the boys using Sage but to link it with a pension scheme....palpitation alert! Any advice and help gratefully received.
Thank yous time!
Boo hoo hoo crying again at the pure loveliness of you all! This week Cam received a wonderful gift of some Despicable Me colouring, a book on drawing animals and some colouring pens from Joan and Les Rowe. You guys are awesome, it gave me at least two hours peace and quiet and that's priceless (as anyone with little ones will know). Thanks so much, you two are major supporters of us, have always helped us and I appreciate you both hugely.
I would also like to thank Ian Roberts who brought me my favourite tipple (one of many) - red wine - as a thank you for our Easter Tri Golf and Egg Hunt. Bless you Ian, you really didn't need to do it, we loved having Holly here, but I do love a good (large) glass of the old red stuff. Thanks so much for being awesome.
I would also like to thank Mrs Mann for another yum yum choccy cake, Cam loves a good cake and this is a gooooood cake. Last time Mrs Mann made us a cake I gave a piece to my friend Rebecca who also loved it, so I consider myself very lucky to be in the company of people who can make a damn good dessert!
Now over to Paul and his report on the progress of Jimmy Mullen and a Woody update!
"I nipped over the bridge to windy Wales last weekend to watch amateur Jimmy Mullen defend the Duncan Putter at Southerdown in extremely tricky conditions. Jimmy played steadily in this two day, seventy two hole event to finish in third position, just four shots off the winning score. Jimmy has recently been announced as a potential Walker Cup Squad player in September but will need a good Summer of results to back up a selection for the team. A very big Summer for Jimmy.
Woody plays in China this week and is absolutely buzzing for a good result. I think he will win one of the events out there over the next couple of weeks. He's playing very well and after missing yet another Masters, he will be eager to press for results.
I play this week in my yearly card in the hand outing to Burnham and am looking to finishing high up the leaderboard and gaining qualification to the Titleist and FootJoy National Club Professionals Championship in June. I have tried to put in some practice but a bout of food poisoning (lovely) had put a stop to that. If I play well, I will qualify. I'm not expecting too much and I will enjoy the competition whatever happens".
Thanks,
Paul
Next week sees an instructional from Kris and an update on group coaching from Luke.
I'm off to do a facepack (if you are of a nervous disposition, don't look at the photo)
Loves ya,
Caren, Paul, Luke, Andy & Krissy lad
