Hi everyone,
Friday's PING Fitting Day was a huge success, and thank you to all of you who attended a session with James Turnbull from PING. We fitted five people with sets of the new i25 and G25 irons, and impressed people with the new wood line up. I will be looking to have another PING day later in the year.
On Sunday, I took my Gloucestershire County Gold Squad to the oldest golf course in England, Westward Ho! or as many know it, Royal North Devon. In preparation for the West of England Championships at the end of April, I invited England Elite Squad member, amateur Jimmy Mullen to play with the squad. RND is Jimmy's home club, so it was a great opportunity for the players to pick his brains about the strategy to play one of the quirkiest courses around. With the heavy rain, many of the holes had been damaged by the floods, and apparently the par three seventh hole was six feet underwater! There were a few signs of damage but the course has recovered extremely well and the boys certainly enjoyed Jimmy's company.
Last night, we welcomed both lady members and visitors from local clubs to our first ever Paul Mitchell Golf Academy Fashion Show last night. Over 80 Ladies had partaken in Red Hot Summer cocktails, long cool lemonades and butterfly cakes before they sat down to enjoy our fantastic modelling skills! Five lady models, Linda, Sandra, Chrissie, Rebecca and Caren, took to the catwalk with our three male models, Andy, Luke and Kris to put on a display of summer clothing from our suppliers, Nike Golf, JRB and Glenmuir. Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy it, and we look forward to doing it all again later in the year! Thanks to everyone who attended and to everyone who helped along the way.
Just a quickie.......
You may have noticed that I have had a huge influx of golf bags in the shop, and I am now selling off some of the older models. These are great bags, just slightly out of date and need to go, so are reduced by up to 30%.
Chris Wood plays on the European Tour this week in Southern Spain and is keen to get another win under his belt.
Paul Reed returned from a couple of competent performances in Morocco, finishing 30th and 12th on the Mena Tour. His season on the PGA EuroPro Tour kicks off in ten days time at The Belfry and he is looking good to get an early win.
Matthew Swales and Laurie Canter qualified at a stage one pre-qualifier for a chance to play on the 2014 EuroPro Tour. Matt won the event at The Players Club, and Laurie finished tied fifth. Final Qualifying takes place at Frilford Heath this week.
