Hey everyone,
We hope you have all been enjoying a good week, here at B&C!
Onwards with the news.
Oh what a yucky, wet and windy week it's been. I hate the rain! It seems like many of you feel the same, as the Pill Owls Trophy was a bit washed out. Nevertheless 38 of our most brave souls took on the sogginess and the winner of the Pill Owls Stableford was Richard Parry, with Steve James in second. Congrats Richard and Steve, good job! I hope you partook of a warming hot chocolate on completion of the round!!
I would also like to report the results from last week's Matt Hawker Anniversary Bowl. The winner was again Richard Parry, followed by Nick Sarsfield in second, Steve Ford in third, Paula Crabtree in fourth and Rich Moore in fifth. Congratulations to all of you!
I would also like to back track to the Pro Shop Stableford a while ago and say a wee sorry to Mark Incledon, who came second and I attributed it to Mark Walker. Oops sorry guys, I am only human and there are sometimes errors but I do apologise - congratulations Mr Incledon! I am used to Mr Walker playing so well that he wins a lot and I made a booboo! At least you are both lovely Marks and I hope you will forgive me!
Next on the playing agenda is the December Stableford, so don't forget to get online and sign up for your tee booking.
The Junior Quorum is going from strength to strength, and with our new junior team wear looking hot and positive comments abounding. We now have the Bristol & District Junior Golf League dates ready for the junior team matches in 2016. I can't wait to get these all kicked off - thanks to Vicky for attending the league meeting and thanks to Helen for populating this for us. My thanks also go to Chrissie for helping us get the procedures straight. It's going to be a great year for Junior Golf with such a great team leading it! We are moving from Quorum to committee and it's an exciting time for all of us. Watch this space!
Don't forget that if you have any children or grandchildren visiting you on 21st December, we are running a Junior Christmas Golf Scramble with optional fancy dress.
This costs £10 and starts at 11am until 3.30pm.
We have a fun packed itinerary and activities from tiny tots tri golf to a 9 hole stableford.
We have a Christmas buffet lunch planned, with party games, treasure hunts and a visit and a prezzie from santa, and prizes for our bigger juniors instead.
We will also be watching a Christmas film after dinner so lots and lots to do.
Please give us a ring to book, or click here to get in touch!
I would also like to point out how beautiful the Ladies' Changing Room looks, now it's had a little Mrs Savage Magic! Chrissie you have done a wonderful job, I absolutely love the Christmas flowers - and I wanted to share them with everyone, so have a look at these displays - isn't she marvellous?
This week saw

Christmas is coming up upon us very fast now, and I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all those who support us during the year. We really are very grateful to you, the members, for being simply wonderful to us and we value your support greatly.
We will be running our traditional mulled wine and mince pie service (yep, in silly outfits!) on
Saturday, 12 and
Saturday, 19 December this year (we know it's too competitive on the 5th to get everyone tipsy!). I would like to say this is a thank you to all of you and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year 2016. I have a feeling it's going to be the best year ever at B&C!!!
This week I made a humbling trip, as part of my ongoing charity work, to the Julian Trust Night Shelter. I regularly collect items from people to donate to the trust, which looks after homeless people in Bristol. They have a small dormitory of just 18 beds a night available, and feed up to 100 homeless people every evening. On Friday I was given a guided tour around the premises, and I have to admit I am in awe of the volunteers who work in this place. I have decided to support the Julian Trust this year for my charity of choice, and I will be doing various collections of things later in the year. Interestingly the Julian Trust most needs items of food, blankets, toiletries etc in July, as many people donate in the Christmas months but not in summer, so I will be launching an appeal next year. We are all human, and some things go wrong for some people. We all deserve a hot meal and a roof over our heads, regardless of the reasons why things have gone wrong.
