Scott here, your resident putter nerd.

If you’ve spent any time in the shop with me, you know I can talk about MOI and centre-of-gravity locations until the lights go out. But today, I’m genuinely buzzing because we just unboxed the new PING Scottsdale TEC line, and it’s a total game-changer for how we actually see the line.

The "TEC" stands for Tour Elevated Concepts, and PING has gone deep into sports science—specifically something called "Quiet Eye" technology—to help us stop missing those pesky four-footers.

The Nerd Stuff: Eye-Q & Onset

Before we look at the models, let’s talk about why these feel different the moment you hold them:

* Eye-Q Alignment: Ever feel like your eyes are darting between the ball, the hole, and your putter? PING’s research shows that "wandering eyes" lead to pushed or pulled putts. The Eye-Q system uses a specific focal point dot on the top rail combined with a long contrast line. It gives your brain a single place to "lock in," quieting your vision so you can just make the stroke.

* The Power of "Onset": This is the cool part. Instead of the shaft being in front of the face (offset), some of these models feature Onset. It places the shaft slightly behind the lead edge. This gives you a totally unobstructed view of the ball and face. Plus, it moves the centre of gravity behind the shaft axis, so the putter is "pulled" through the stroke like a wheelbarrow. It’s incredibly stable.

The Models

PING offers seven different head shapes for plenty of choice, depending on how you putt!

1. The Hayden (Straight Stroke): This is the flagship high-MOI mallet. It’s a beast of stability with a double-bend shaft that keeps the face square to the path. If you struggle with a "loopy" stroke, start here.

2. Ally Blue Onset (Straight/Slight Arc): My personal favourite. The onset hosel makes alignment feel like "cheating"—it’s just so easy to see the face angle. It’s a clean, modern mallet that looks like it’s from the future.

3. The Ketch (Slight Arc): A PING classic reborn. This multi-material mallet is known for being one of the most forgiving putters ever made. The new white finish and Eye-Q dot make it even easier to track.

4. The Ally Blue H (Slight Arc): It’s an Ally blue with an Anser-style neck, so if you like the look and response of the famous Anser blade.

5. Ally Blue CB (Counter-Balanced): If you have "stabby" hands or struggle with tempo, this is your fix. It’s a heavier head (370g+) with a counter-balanced grip to smooth out your rhythm.

6. Ally Blue H CB (counter-balanced): Giving us the Anser hosel but with the benefits of a counter balance, giving you a trip to Tempo Town!!!!

7. Ketch 4 (strong arc): This hosel is a small slant neck hosel designed for those with a stronger arc. This super forgiving mallet is perfect for a player who needs stability. With Eye Q tech and two short ball lines, this putter will have you holing out 10-footers in no time! Who needs gimmes anyway when you can roll them in from everywhere!

Why You Should Come See Us

A putter is the only club you use ~30 times a round. If you aren't "quieting" your eyes at address, you're leaving shots on the green.

Swing by the pro shop this week, and let’s get you dialled in. We can help you figure out if you’re a Straight, Slight Arc, or Strong Arc player and find the Scottsdale TEC that matches.

See you on the green,

Scott
